U.S. Embassy iBoat Visits Thulusdhoo Island to Provide Technology Skills Training for Youth

The iBoat docked at Kaafu Thulusdhoo to launch the second training round of the iBoat US MV program series in Maldives.

Colombo, October 12: The U.S. Embassy in partnership with the National Library of Maldives, Thulusdhoo Island Council, and Kaafu Atoll Education Centre provided photography and videography training to 30 youth at the Thulusdhoo Youth Center from October 4 to 8. This is part of the ongoing U.S. MV iBoat program, which provides technical training to youth throughout the atolls. Ahmed Anees, Island Council President, and Ahmed Mihad, School Principal, delivered remarks at the launch of the Thulusdhoo iBoat program.

“This is a well-time initiative by the U.S. Embassy and provides local youth with opportunity to participate in an information and communications technology program,” said Ahmed Mihad, School Principal. The U.S. MV iBoat is one of several skills-based programs offered through the American Center Male.

The U.S. Embassy and government of Maldives established the center in 2004 to provide youth with employment and leadership skills, English language learning, and information about studying in the United States.
